Last night in LA, Wale was at The Key Club along with UCB. I first hear about the show when I was browsing through my Twitter (that is an everyday thing) LoL. I saw that Wale was asking folks in the LA area if they were coming to the show or needed tickets. DOPE! I was hoping someone would send out some flix from the event and I can always count on Fairley to keep me in the loop! (thanks girly!) Wale then brought out two of the top West Coast cats, Warren G & Xibit! Warren G then proceeded to do the anthem “Regulaters” backed up by UCB (now i KNOW that was HOT!) If I get any video footage, I will update the post :o) Enjoy the rest of the flix!
The above event took place on TUESDAY and boy was that an entertaining show! If you are an up & coming rapper you really need to tune into “Funkadelic Freestyles” every TUESDAY on www.gwradio.com @8pm. It’s hosted by jben.ok and he definitely holds it down! The cast they had was..uhhhh..LoL, HILARIOUS!! and next time they do it, I want in okay? :o) THANKS! lol. Now let’s see here..they had 2Hood4Hollywood, Jay Promo, Adrian, Tabi Bonney, X.O., Rique & Kevin and I know many others in the studio, that was off top the head. They talked about everything and of course they discussed Twitter and I even got my shout out (WHOOP!) So all in all it was a successful night!
Below, are the links to the podcast of the show and the freestyle that Tabi Bonney & X.O. blessed us with at the end :o) ENJOY!!
The video for “Go Hard” was being taped at Pure on Monday night and here is some footage of Tabi Bonney performing “Rich Kids”. I see you Funkadelic Freestyle TV!!
Gregory King pictured here with his son Julian King
Thanks to Word on the Streets Magazine, Gregory King (father of Julian King) has now broken his silence on the tragic death of his son. The EXCLUSIVE interview was conducted by the Publisher of Word on the Streets Magazine, Isis Wisdom. Please read below for some excerpts from the interview and then click the link below for the FULL interview.
On if he has spoken to Julia Hudson about the investigation
Isis Wisdom: “Has she spoken to you in terms of the police investigation? Like how is the progress of that coming along? Like are you satisfied with the way the case is being handled so far? What is your opinion about that?”
Gregory King: “Well…(sigh) She (Julia) Hasn’t really said anything to me about the case to much. Like the other day I had to call her other brother to find out the status about the case. I mean as far as that go William is still fighting the case. I mean to me it seemed like he should have been charged already back when all that was going on.”
On speaking about William’s other girlfriends
Isis wisdom: “There was talk on the news that William had other girlfriend’s one in particular stated that he told her he had committed the murders what is your take on that?”
Gregory King: “William would say hey man I got all these fine ass hoes chasing me but Julia was doing her thing and he was doing his thing. The problem was he could not handle it when Julia moved on to do her thing. Julia is the type of woman that if you do her wrong and she get’s tired of you, she will cut you off. She don’t come back and deal with the drama anymore. Even when I was with her and I was doing my thing when she got tired of me she cut me off. No sex or nothing. I mean we would speak and be cool but once she makes up her mind to move on there is nothing that anyone can do about it. I guess William couldn’t handle it.”

Now, I thought the issue they did with President Barak Obama on the cover was my favorite, but when I was on Twitter yesterday and saw VIBE Magazine’s icon as this picture I said “O-M-G” This is the hottest cover and I will be purchasing this to add to my collection of magazines :o)
This is Keyshia Cole’s 3rd time gracing the cover and what makes this extra special is that it’s their FIRST style issue. I love the direction VIBE Magazine is going! The March 2009 issue will be on newstands Tuesday, Feb 17th!

His name is Darnell Dockett and he’s actually from Atlanta but after his mother was tragically murdered when he was 13, he came to Burtonsville, MD (my town) and attended Paint Branch High School (in Silver Spring, MD). I have met Darnell aka Donny before (went to school with his fiancee) and he’s a really nice guy, but when I read his story this evening I had tears in my eyes. It’s a blessing that this young man has come so far. It’s a blessing that his uncle adopted him and raised him and had him play football. He has an incredible story and I just really had to shine some light on. So please pass this story on. It’s proof that if you have determination you can over come anything in life.
“Sometimes on Christmas, on Mother’s Day, when I got drafted, when I signed a new contract – those days I wish I could be like ‘Here Mom, here’s your Mercedes Benz outside’, or ‘Here’s your new house. You don’t got to live in the projects anymore. You don’t have to go to the grocery store with $20 to try to feed three kids,’” Darnell said. “I feel like I could have been a good man in my mom’s life.”
I first heard about this guy when my buddy Etienne (The In Crowd) told me about him. Looks like they have been working on some FIYA in the past months and he just sent me this track called “Suicide Doors”. I will say the original photo they sent to go with the post was TOOOOO ris-KAY for “Candice Nicole in the City” LoL sooo Etienne sent me some others (thank you!). I am really interested in what kind of feedback he will get for this track because it’s a very bold/sexual one and I will say that I likey. Played it about 4-5 times and said “alright, I want to hear some more material” So, comment, let them know what you think! :o)
(L-R) Ben Chavis, Kevin Liles, Russel Simmons, LL Cool J & Navarrow Wright
Hip Hop mogul Russell Simmons announced yesterday in NYC at Bryant Hotel at a Press Conference was his day job was. He is now the Editor-in Chief of GlobalGrind.com. I must say that I have joined the site, but I need to become more active :o) It’s a great site to visit everyday to find out the latest in hip hop news, politics, etc. So CONGRATSto him. I always knew he was a part of the venture though (investment) but an annoucement for a position is wonderful! I only expect more bigger and better things now for GlobalGrind.com
Also in attendance for the annoucement were Angela & Vanessa Simmons, Tocarra Jones, DJ Who Kid. For the complete story, please click HERE
The line is looking better than ever. These cats were the brains behind the “RUN DMV” shirts and I’m loving their new look right now. Looking like they are stamping the “We Out Chea!” saying now..LoL..I hear that EVERYWHERE now, gotta love it! :o) This is a behind the scenes look at what their spring 09 will look like.
*THINKING* I need one of those “KAUTE” shirts, since I say that all the time..LoL
David Corey X DistrictFresh.com - PhotoSession from ABB VIDEO on Vimeo. Thanks for the vid Dre! (ABB Video)
So glad they did a promo vid on what is going on with him right now. I know his Publicist Jay (he is THE best) and know they have been working pretty hard on DC. Looks like they have hooked up with the manager of Mumbo Sauce (go-go band in DC) and they have made some BIG moves lately so I expect to hear/see more of DC now :o) The photographer Barbie Bibiana was taking shots of him that day, so enjoy what you see folks!
